Q [WRITING IS A RESOURCE]—Writing is a resource people use to do things, be things, and make things in the world. Reflect upon and respond to all of the following questions. To help you recognize how great your expertise is with the narrative genre, and how that has shaped your personality and life, answer the following questions: • How many narrative genres can you name? Try to name ten or more. Think of how you categorize movies, video games, novels, and any other forms of story. • What is your favorite narrative genre? What is it about this genre that appeals to you so much? What about your personality makes this genre a good "fit" for you? • How did you develop your appreciation for this genre? Think back on your life and try to recall specific influences, including family members, friends, major social events, personal heroes you had growing up, historical events, etc. Also, include the media by which you have typically consumed stories (comic books, DVDs, movies in theaters, etc.).
